If there’s a problem.

  • Illness: If you’re feeling unwell, go to the emergency room! The hospital’s name is Cattinara, and the emergency department is called Pronto Soccorso. From the city center, take bus number 25 or 37 to go up the hill, or call a taxi: Radiotaxi Trieste 040 307730.
  • If a child is unwell, take them to Ospedale Burlo on Via del Istria, and look for the Pronto Soccorso there as well! A child is considered anyone under 18; if they are older, they cannot be treated at Cattinara. Don’t worry, everyone will be very kind, and English is spoken at the emergency room. From the city center, buses 10, 48, 1, 29, and 23 will take you there.
  • Emergency: Call 112! With this number, you can reach ambulances, firefighters, and the police, and they will provide an interpreter in your native language if necessary. Make sure to know the address of where you are!
  • The pharmacy with the longest opening hours is just one minute from the end of Canal Grande, next to a church. Pharmacies Neri Trieste is open every day from 8:30 AM to 8:00 PM, and they even stock medications for dogs.
