In 2024, the world’s largest sailing race, the Barcolana, will be held for the 56th time in Trieste. No joke, check it out in the Guinness World Records!
The famous regatta will take place this year from October 4 to 13, with the final race starting on Sunday, October 13, at 10:30 AM. The starting line is between Barcola and the Miramare Castle, and the final leg begins in front of the Vittoria lighthouse, with the finish buoy located at Piazza Unità d’Italia.
Locals often plan in advance where they will watch the race from – whether it’s from a mountain, a balcony, a rooftop terrace, or a seaside bar. Everyone has a secret, reliable spot or a friend with a good view, where they can watch the thousands of sailing boats competing on the sea, with a glass of prosecco or some good spritz in hand. Along with the stunning view of the yachts, there are tons of parties in Trieste during this time, and the entire city center transforms into a party venue, with concerts and parties at the Bacolana Village by the seafront and along Canal Grande. You can shop, eat, drink, and dance, and while strolling along Molo Audace, you’ll be able to admire the incredible yachts.
In parallel with the race, this year a conference will also be organized at the new Trieste Convention Center (TCC) under the name Barcolana Sea Summit.
It’s a great experience, don’t miss it! And be sure to book your accommodation with us!
