One of Trieste’s city center beaches, Ausonia, is located next to the gender-segregated El Pedocin beach, just a few steps from the marina. The entrance fee is around 6 Euros, and it is open every day from 8:30 AM to 7:30 PM. On the piers built above the sea, you can sunbathe on comfortable lounge chairs, there’s a floating island, a water polo field, a snack bar, a shallow pebbled area for children, crystal-clear water, and a stunning view. However, there’s no crowd! The beach is within walking distance from the city center, but if your accommodation is farther away, you can take bus number 9.
