Muggia - Trieszti Turista

Muggia

Muggia is a small town located right next to Trieste, near the Slovenian border, in the Istrian region. The coolest way to get here from Trieste’s city center is by taking the Delfino Verde ferry, which runs on a regular schedule, with the journey taking about 15 minutes. Once you arrive at the port, it’s just a few minutes to the small but very charming Venetian-style old town. The town was founded in the 13th century, and from that era, you can still see the cathedral and town hall in the main square. Walk through the narrow alleys up to the castle and enjoy the stunning view! Unfortunately, the castle is only open on Castelli Aperti days, held in spring and autumn.

In Muggia, you can also plan a day at the beach, with one specifically where you can even bring your dog. The town’s biggest event is the Muggia Festival, held during Carnival, but another great program is the Corte dei Miracoli antique and craft market, which takes place every second Sunday of the month, from 8 a.m. until sunset.
