„The Miramare Castle, located right at the border of Trieste, was built by Archduke Maximilian Habsburg for himself and his wife Charlotte.
The building itself can be visited free of charge on the first Sunday of each month, and entrance to the castle park is always free. Since Maximilian was passionate about botany, he designed the garden himself, which remains so beautiful today that it looks like it came to life from a Disney fairy tale. There’s also a café in the park. Administratively, the castle belongs to the municipality of Grignano, but it can be reached by local Trieste transport (bus 6) or by boat, the Delfino Verde, from the downtown port. From Barcola, you can simply walk there. The village boasts a large marina, beaches with crystal-clear water, and excellent restaurants.
You can find the castle park’s opening hours and ticket prices here.”
