A memorial park in the heart of the city, which you can also reach by car from via Capitolina. Scattered throughout the park, you’ll find karst stones, each one commemorating a fallen person from Trieste or the units they fought in. You can walk up the truly gigantic stairs, the Scala dei Giganti, from Goldoni Square, or if you prefer to take the lift, try the elevator at the parking garage next to the Roman Theater, which will take you straight up to the height of the San Giusto Castle.
It’s worth taking in the view from the top of the Scala dei Giganti! If you walk further up to the fountain, you’ll find a playground and a drinking fountain right next to the San Giusto Castle walls. To reach the entrance of the castle and the nearby San Giusto Cathedral, you’ll need to walk around the fortress, heading towards the sea and passing through the park. One of the park’s most magnificent spots, alongside many monuments, is the Barakin bar.
